You will also be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of prescriptions and maintaining compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients in selecting eyeglasses.
- Conduct fittings and adjustments of eyewear to ensure proper fit and comfort.
- Maintain knowledge of current optical trends, products, and technologies to provide informed recommendations to customers.
- Perform necessary measurements, including pupillary distance and segment height, to ensure accurate lens fitting.
- Handle retail sales transactions while providing excellent customer service throughout the purchasing process.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient information confidentiality.
- Maintain an organized and clean work environment, adhering to aseptic techniques as required.
- Collaborate with optometrist and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Stay updated on anatomy knowledge relevant to eye care, as well as retail math for effective inventory management.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in an optical setting or retail sales is preferred.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures related to eyewear production is a plus.
- Knowledge of ophthalmology practices and vital signs is beneficial for patient interactions.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex information clearly to patients.
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills are essential for managing multiple tasks effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also demonstrating independence when necessary.
- Proficiency in using optical systems for managing patient records and inventory is advantageous.
