Job Summary
The Employee and Labor Relations Specialist will provide a broad range of professional employee and labor relations activities including but not limited to: employee consulting, training, conflict resolution, complaint investigation, policy development, application, enhancement and interpretation, and the preparation and delivery of related reports recommendations. They will work directly with the Union on all union related matters and will be responsible for rolling out the performance assessment process.
Authority and Accountability
This position will report to the head of Human Resources and will have no direct reports. They will work with all areas of the University as needed.
Required/Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business, or related field.
- At least t hree years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent time management skills with the proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Thorough understanding of laws, regulations, and guidelines related to HR and contract negotiations.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Preferred Qualifications
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP
- SHRM Workplace Investigations Credential
- Master’s Degree
- Professional training in labor law or collective bargaining
- At least five years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Physical Requirements
- Campus and travel to various external sites, office environment
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

The position is a full-time, exempt state role with comprehensive benefits.
