Job Summary
This position is responsible for overseeing and implementing strategies to optimize energy usage across Salisbury University’s campus, including monitoring consumption, identifying efficiency improvements, managing energy-related projects, promoting sustainability initiatives, and educating faculty, staff, and students on energy conservation practices to achieve cost savings and environmental goals.
Authority and Accountability
This position reports to the Director of Physical Plant and has budgetary authority and responsibility over the Utilities operating budget.
Required/Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, sustainability, environmental science, or a related field
3 years of experience in energy management or a related field
Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex energy data
Project management skills to plan, execute, and monitor energy efficiency projects
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders
Understanding of sustainability principles and environmental regulations
Preferred Qualifications
Direct relevant experience serving as an Energy Manager
Certified Energy Manager
Familiarity with energy software such as EnergyCAP or Portfolio Manager
Workday experience
Experience with building management systems (BMS) and energy modeling software
Knowledge of State of MD’s building energy performance standards

The position is a full-time, exempt, state role with comprehensive benefits.
