Overall Responsibilities
In coordination with the SSOS Leadership Team, the Development Director sustains, develops and administers all aspects of Salish School of Spokane's fundraising programs and projects. The Development Director will have a strong track record of fundraising, grant writing, and grants management in the non-profit sector.
Development Director Responsibilities and Job Functions
In collaboration with the Executive Director and other Leadership Staff, the Development Director shall :
- Collaborate with SSOS Leadership Team, Board, and Contract Capital Campaign Manager to plan and conduct a $2 million capital campaign in 2025 to support the construction of a new school campus for Salish School of Spokane
- Develop and implement a strategic fundraising plan that is consistent with the overall mission, vision, goals and strategic plan of Salish School of Spokane
- Develop and implement an annual fundraising calendar for Salish School of Spokane
- Research and apply for and secure grant funding from non-profits, foundations and governments at the local, state and federal level
- Research and identify individual and business donors and implement strategies to foster and sustain positive donor relationships and secure financial support therefrom
- Plan and implement SSOS Annual Campaigns using digital and print media, community networking and advertising, and direct outreach to donors
- Plan and implement fundraising events for Salish School of Spokane that increase community awareness of our mission and work and that bring in donations
- Develop and implement a social and on-line media, website, and advertising strategy that builds community awareness of the mission and work of SSOS and that energizes and motivates SSOS staff, parents, students, donors and other stakeholders to support and engage in our mission of Salish language revitalization
- Maintain donor records using cloud-based CRM software and generate donor analytics and reports that ensure best possible donor relationships
- Track and report on grants and ensure timely grant applications and reporting
- Collaborate with other SSOS administrative staff to ensure that grant programs are implemented in compliance with grant agreements

The Development Director may be charged with hiring, training, retaining, and supervising additional Development Department staff.
