Description

The Salk Institute for Biological Studies invites established faculty candidates at the Associate and Full Professor rank to apply for a Full Professor position in Neuroimmunology. Our search extends to scholars poised to drive significant advancements in any area of neuroimmunology, particularly those whose work elucidates fundamental biological mechanisms and interactions between the nervous and immune systems through innovative research. Ideal candidates are deeply committed to scientific inquiry and interaction with diverse scientific disciplines. They are eager to tackle meaningful problems alongside our dynamic and collaborative faculty.

Why Join Us?

World-Class Research Environment: Internationally acclaimed for breakthroughs in neuroscience, immunology, virology, cancer, plant biology, and molecular and cell biology, the Salk Institute fosters a culture of bold exploration and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Supportive Academic Community: New faculty members will be welcomed into a supportive cohort within the NOMIS Center of Immunobiology and Microbial Pathogenesis, with opportunities to contribute to Salk's pioneering Neuroimmunology Initiative (NI). This initiative explores the crosstalk between the immune and nervous systems, elucidating how inflammation impacts the brain and how neural signals shape immunity. It will pave the way for new therapies targeting disorders with both neurological and immune components, including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, chronic conditions, and certain cancers.

Salk Values: The Salk Community, both scientists and administrators, worked together to define values that we believe support Salk's pursuit of excellence. To be truly the best scientific institution requires not only incredible discoveries, but a common understanding of how we should work together to enable those discoveries.

The acronym "I CARE" provides a simple way to remember each of the values and reminds each of us of the importance of what we do each day.

Competitive Compensation Package: The chosen candidate will receive a highly competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, and a substantial start-up package to support their research endeavors.

Application Requirements:

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree and have demonstrated a strong record of research achievements. In addition to those at the rank of Full Professor, applicants currently holding an Associate Professor rank, are eligible to apply, with the expectation of being appointed as Full Professor.

To apply, please submit the following documents via Interfolio:

* Curriculum vitae

* A 3-4-page research proposal outlining current and future research goals

Reference letters will be requested during the recruitment process from advancing candidates. Applications with all required materials will be accepted until the position is filled. Questions should be directed to facultysearch@salk.edu.
