Under direction, this position will support academic research teams with the goal of creating an epigenomic atlas of the human brain at single-cell resolution. Responsibilities may include: large-scale generation of methylation sequencing libraries using a robotic pipetting system, Cryostat sectioning and fluorescence imaging for spatial transcriptomics through MERSCOPE, nuclei production and sorting, and treatment of nuclei to evaluate chromatin conformation. Position may also include support of bioinformaticists handling large amounts of data.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Bisulfite sequencing
  • Magnetic bead DNA purification
  • PCR
  • Perform tissue sectioning with Cryostat
  • Fluorescence staining protocols for imaging
  • Isolate cellular nuclei from brain tissue
  • Chromatin assays
  • Data movement/tracking

What we Require

  • No professional experience is required.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The expected pay range for this position is $17.25 to $17.50 hourly. Salk Institute provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the institute reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
