What You'll Do
We are looking for a senior software development engineer (Sr. SDE) who has experience building complex customer facing products supporting the mission of the organization. It is a highly visible and impactful role to design and develop solutions and prototypes for customers of education services. The Sr. SDE will collaborate with the technical product and program managers, solution architects, and partners both inside and outside of the organization to build technology products. They invent and simplify system architecture, reduce system complexity, and build scalable solutions to support future growth of the products and services. They stay at the forefront of the technology trends to advice the teams in adopting the best practices and technologies in the industry. They are hands-on building the foundational blocks of the system architecture while utilizing ML and AI tools to expedite the development timeline. They provide feedback to junior SDEs via code reviews and 1:1 mentoring. As an Sr. SDE, they get to own the full development lifecycle of the enterprise systems, solve challenging problems at scale directly.
You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial, cross-functional, and fast-moving environment. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse set of team members, stakeholders and senior leaders across the company to create and drive towards the strategic vision at Sallie.

What You Have
M inimum education, skills and experience required.
- 6 years of professional software development engineering experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent
- 5 years of design, implementation, and execution in application development
- Proven track record in technology product delivery lifecycle, delivery in an environment with distributed, multi-tiered systems, algorithms, and databases
Preferred education, skills, and experience.
- Experience with cloud computing, ML, AI, security, networking, and data & analytics
- Experience leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences, including executive level stakeholders or clients
