Data Scientist and Process Responsible for Commercial Finance

We are looking for a data-driven and business-oriented person to be part of our commercial finance team as a Data Scientist. In this position, you will be part of the finance department and work closely with the commercial organisation, providing tools and insights that are used in the daily decision-making of the Danish part of the Salling Group business covering Netto, føtex, Bilka, and BR.

In the role, your tasks and responsibilities will be to :

• Ensure effective use of data and develop tailor-made tools supporting business decisions and the understanding of our commercial performance.
• Support the data-driven transformation the finance department is going through.
• Continuous support of the finance partners enabling the team to deliver valuable support to the whole commercial organisation.
• Be the link to the IT data team and other data teams within Salling Group.
• Manage the commercial budgeting and forecasting processes, providing tools and guidance for the commercial categories and the finance partners.
• Coordinate with our colleagues in the shared service center who perform our standard reporting.
• Be the prime mover in the yearly stock budgeting process.

You will become part of a team of five, and together with finance partners, report directly into the finance organisation via the head of commercial finance. The environment is highly professional and result-oriented. Things move rapidly, new tasks arise, and decisions need to be made quickly.

Your skills and background

You have a master's degree within Finance, IT, or similar (could be Cand Oecon, Cand Merc, Cand Scient). Most importantly, you have a passion for working with data and an interest in understanding and improving the business. A few years of working experience in a similar role is beneficial but can be compensated for by being the ideal candidate with relevant experience from study work, projects, or internships.

You have a genuine curiosity for data and how it can be utilised to create business value. At the same time, you have the ability to handle enormous amounts of complex data and translate it into understandable and presentable overviews that support solid and well-founded business decisions. In addition to your data enthusiasm, you have a deep business understanding that enables you to use the right data and make the best analyses for the immediate issue.

You have an analytical mindset, a structured way of working, and are a real problem solver. You have experience in extracting, cleaning, and transforming data as well as data modelling that creates measurements and reports that support reliable business decisions in the commercial department and our stores. It is beneficial if you have experience with programming / scripting languages such as R, SQL, DAX, and VBA.
