Position Summary:
The High School Band Teacher plays a crucial role in shaping the musical education and development of students in a high school setting. This position involves not only teaching students how to play various musical instruments but also fostering a love for music and teamwork through band performances and competitions. The teacher will be responsible for creating engaging lesson plans that cater to different skill levels and musical interests, ensuring that all students feel included and motivated. Additionally, the role requires collaboration with other faculty members to integrate music education into the broader curriculum and school activities. Ultimately, the High School Band Teacher aims to cultivate a vibrant and dynamic band program that enhances the overall educational experience for students.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive band curriculum that meets the educational standards and diverse needs of students.
- Conduct daily rehearsals, providing instruction on music theory, instrument techniques, and performance skills.
- Organize and lead band performances, competitions, and community events to showcase student talent and promote the band program.
- Assess student progress through regular evaluations and provide constructive feedback to support their musical growth.
- Collaborate with other educators and staff to integrate music education into school-wide initiatives and events.
- Work closely with students, families, staff, teachers and Administration to support the mission of the school and ensure student success
- Desire to participate in a Professional Learning Community
- Willingness to participate in programs that support the mission of the Catholic Church and the faith and spiritual growth of the students and oneself
Attend faculty and department meetings
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification for secondary education in music.
Experience in directing high school band programs and preparing students for competitions
