JOB SUMMARY
The Student Support Assistant provides support to the educational mission of the school and department administrators in a safe and efficient manner. This position requires professional judgment. Individuals in these roles may be asked to move between roles and responsibilities in this job description, based on the need of the school or department. This position will supervise students during lunch and recess periods.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
All positions require selected candidates to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a criminal background check. Additional minimum required qualifications for this position are :
- High school diploma or a recognized equivalent
- Speak, read, write, and present professionally, analyze, and interpret English written and verbal communications
- Adaptability and understanding of cultural differences while working in a diverse environment
- Ability to follow safety practices
- Consistently maintained composure and patience in challenging situations
- Flexibility to handle changing work priorities

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands : some lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 10% sitting, 40% walking, and 50% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
