This position will work primarily with the Special Education Department.
JOB SUMMARY
The Testing Compliance Assistant – Special Education aids and supports the Special Education staff in assigned schools through testing, clerical, and other organizational tasks as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
All positions require selected candidates to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a criminal background check. Additional minimum required qualifications for this position are:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver’s License and evidence of insurability
- Reliable transportation to travel to various school sites
- Speak, read, write, and present professionally; analyze and interpret English written and verbal communications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
These are examples of skills and experience that the best qualified candidates may have. Not having one or all of them does not disqualify any candidate from consideration.
- Experience working in a K-12 public school setting
- Experience with Student Testing preferred, some of the systems used by the SLCSD:
- Woodcock-Johnson Psycho-educational Battery III
- Cognitive and Tests of Achievement
- CTONI
- Spanish or other language proficiency, including ability to read, write, speak, and understand
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administer tests to new referrals as well as students who require a 3-year re-evaluation. (Students to be tested must be assigned to the TCM (Transition Compliance Manager) by the supervising special education teacher.) Assessment measures will include Woodcock-Johnson Psycho-educational Battery III, Cognitive and Tests of Achievement; CTONI, structured classroom observations, and other tests as assigned by the consultant, and psychologist
- Organize files using the TCM file contents checklist and notify teachers of items that are missing, outdated, or otherwise out of compliance. Compile a list of students transitioning to middle and high school
- Flag due dates for IEPs and 3-year reevaluations and notifies special education teachers prior to the due date
- Assist special education consultants with file exchange by checking files to be sent on to middle schools and high schools for compliance, and document actions to be completed prior to the end of the school year
- Conduct a final check of files being sent on to receiving middle schools and high schools
- Perform end-of-year file pick-up and delivery to receiving middle schools and high schools
- Schedule activities; collate data; and use basic, job-related equipment
- Complete safety care training. Participate in meetings, workshops, and seminars, as assigned to convey, and gather information required to perform functions. Read a variety of manuals and present information to others
- Communicate effectively with diverse individuals and groups of people while maintaining confidentiality and building positive working relationships with employees and stakeholders
- Support a team environment by collaborating with own and other work units to perform the duties of the position effectively
- As needed, roll, push, pull, bend, reach, stoop, and lift up to 30 pounds
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance to fulfill job requirements efficiently and effectively
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 30 pounds, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking, and 20% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
