Under the supervision of the Associate Dean and Faculty Coordinator, this position will teach various courses to community college students in the following programs: Automation Technology, Robotics Technology, Electronics Technology, and Electronics Assembly Technology. Additionally, this position will support the college and department in maintaining and developing courses and programs that are current and in demand by related industries.
The assistant professor must be available to teach as assigned at different campuses and days/times including the potential for evenings and weekends when necessary. The current schedule is Monday thru Thursday, 7am to 1pm or 3pm to 9pm. The assistant professor will provide instruction via different delivery methods as assigned. Most courses are taught in an open-lab setting without set lecture times.
Responsibilities
1. Instruct all related courses to support Technician level training, to include
computer usage, math, physics, electronics, assembly, instrumentation, and automation.
2. Provide quality instruction to students, to include both theory and practical lab assignments/projects, to include related instrumentation specific to the field.
3. Actively engage and assist students in obtaining proficiency in the competencies required and related to the course and program industry occupations. Providing timely feedback to students on learning and required assessments.
4. Daily activity to track student progress, and resolve educational challenges.
5. Provide department course assessments to students, following all policies and procedures set forth by the department.
4. Support and educate all students by maintaining regularly scheduled consultation/office hours, advising students on program requirements, and concepts that are difficult.
5. Fully support the college and department outcomes assessments, student performance, maintaining student records, participating and supporting division and college assessment activities, and participating in curriculum development and textbook selection.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a related field and minimum of Four (4) years industry experience related to electronics, instrumentation and/or automation.
or
Technical certificate or associate degree from an accredited institution in a related field and minimum of Six (6) years industry experience related to electronics, instrumentation and/or automation.
