Job Summary

The Investigator will be an essential part of the EO / Title IX Office and will be responsible for investigating alleged conduct that may violate SLCC’s policies prohibiting discrimination and harassment based on a person’s membership in a protected class. The successful candidate will work closely with SLCC’s campus community to create an atmosphere free of discrimination and harassment through investigations and training.
This position will also provide intake services and initial responses to reports of discrimination, sexual misconduct, and retaliation in accordance with established criteria, triage reports of alleged discrimination, sexual misconduct, and retaliation, and provide information and education about supportive measures, the EO and Title IX reporting and investigation process, and rights and responsibilities under the college’s policies, and perform preliminary fact-finding interviews.This position reports to the Senior Director of People and Workplace Culture. Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Complete each case with a written report of the findings, analysis, and submit it for review in a timely manner.
- Conduct investigations into complaints of employment, discrimination, and harassment, denial of reasonable accommodation, and unlawful retaliatory actions.
- Conduct fact-finding meetings and on-site visits, reviews, and training.
- Interview relevant parties, including witnesses, co-workers, managers, providers, etc.
- Review relevant documents submitted by the parties and consulting with Lead Investigator and Senior Director of People and Workplace Culture.
- Draft documents related to the investigation within timelines.
- Prepare documents consisting of concise decisions based upon facts, interpretations of law, and compliance with state and federal standards for Legal review.
- Receive, research, and respond to incoming questions or complaints.
- Provide information, explain policy and procedures, and / or facilitate a resolution.
- Deliver presentations or instruction to staff, management, or the public.
- Collaborate with the Office of General Counsel.
- Acknowledge complaints, provide the initial response to complainants, and schedule and perform intake interviews.
- Interpret and / or advise complainants of college policy and provide referrals and resources to individuals affected by sexual misconduct and other forms of discrimination, such as Title IX interim safety and welfare measures as needed for sexual violence and harassment complaints under college policy and Title IX.
- Conduct preliminary fact-finding as required to assess the allegations under applicable college policies and procedures.
- Provide ongoing communication for parties regarding case status and respond to questions and concerns about investigations.
- Other duties as assigned.

Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office applications, document sharing tools, and case management systems.
