Job Summary
Assist the Orientation & Student Success (OSS) team in providing comprehensive support to students enrolled in OSS cohorts at Salt Lake Community College. By helping students navigate their college experience and make progress toward their degree, we aim to ensure that they have a fulfilling and transformative time at SLCC. Essential Responsibilities and Duties Participate as a team member of the Orientations and Student Success office (OSS) by assisting with duties and tasks, including :
- Attend all the required trainings to stay up-to-date on the latest policies, procedures, and resources available to students
- Facilitate the orientation of new students to Salt Lake Community College to help them feel comfortable and confident in navigating the campus environment
- When addressing new students, clearly communicate the various services and resources offered at Salt Lake Community College to help them succeed in their academic journey
- Assist in event planning and execution to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for students
- Proactively identify and solve common challenges that new students face in their transition to SLCC
- Coach students on crucial skills such as time management, financial literacy, and success strategies to help them thrive in college and beyond
- Foster a respectful and inclusive environment for all students, faculty, and staff
- Be open to taking on other duties as assigned by the OSS team, as needed
