What are the responsibilities and job description for the STEM Learning – Lab Aide I position at Salt Lake Community College?
The person selected for this position will be required to operate independently to assist InnovaBio staff and faculty in day-to-day operations of the lab, including making reagents and maintaining equipment and lab supplies.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
The person selected will assist in troubleshooting protocols and methodologies used as part of the research projects for lnnovaBio. This will require the hiree to independently set up experiments and carefully monitor outcomes with only minimal oversight from staff scientists. They may be required to prepare reports of complex experimental outcomes and analyze data as requested.

The person selected will learn and practice, at an in-depth level, quantitative and preparative skills applied to biotechnology research questions and their implementation at the lab bench. They will learn the methods by which scientific instruction is developed and assessed.
Minimum Qualifications
The hiree must have experience troubleshooting experimental protocols and methods in a biology/chemistry laboratory setting. They must understand the principles of molecular biology and cell culture aseptic technique and must be able to independently perform appropriate calculations and prepare biotechnology-specific reagents and buffers. At least 6 months experience with cell culture, yeast culture, and protein purification is preferred.
