Job Summary
Furniture and Moving Worker 1 is an important position to the college because all duties performed are visible and contribute greatly to the environment and overall appeal at each campus and in each building. This position knows fundamental concepts of Furniture and Moving services that will assist to ensure a safe, clean, and functional environment for all campuses and sites operated by Salt Lake Community College.
Under immediate supervision of The Furniture and Moving Coordinator 1, this position performs standard tasks using established methods and makes routine judgements on matters. This position requires a broad range of complex technical and professional work activities including excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
The position has a regular schedule but may require flexibility as needed based on project and event set up needs. Essential Responsibilities and Duties - Follow directions to move and adjust furniture to layouts provided, college standards, and use needs.- Load, Secure, and Transport furniture and other items as needed.- Ability to lift 50lbs. not assisted and 100 assisted.- Utilize basic hand tools and moving equipment, such as drills and drivers, dollies, panel carts, etc.- Operate Large Capacity Vehicles, including box trucks, trailers, vans, etc.- Maintain all SLCC furniture inventory and storage locations, including cleaning and organizing.- Operate in accordance with all SLCC Safety policies and procedures as set by the college, department or supervisor.- Communicate Effectively, follow directions, and ask questions as needed. High School Diploma Preferred Qualifications Must be 21 Prior warehouses or similar experienceBasic Computing SkillsOperate large capacity vehicles and forklifts Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Furniture Management : -Ability to receive and assess verbal and / or written work direction, such as room layouts, furniture types, and placement requests for setup and teardown of classrooms, offices, conference rooms, and all other college spaces.-Ability to be taught to drive and utilize Large Capacity Vehicles to load, secure, and relocate college assets. including furniture, equipment and other items as needed.-Ability to lift and carry 50lbs not assisted and 100 assisted.-Ability to be taught and adhere to SLCC warehouse and inventory management procedures, including furniture maintenance, safe storage, and inventory management.-Ability to practice and learn safe utilization of tools and equipment.-Ability to work independently or with a team, following SLCC Furniture and Moving Project Communication Guidelines.-Ability to learn and adhere to all OSHA and ISSA safety requirements.-Ability to read and understand SSD labels
Customer Service : -Competent with daily technology use including Laptops, Desktops, iPad, Cellular Phones (Text, Call, photos, internet), Outlook suite (Email), and CMMS software (Project / Client and Time tracking)- Ability to work in various locations throughout a day and manage changing tasks many times with little supervision.-Ability to professionally communicate with clients in person, over the phone, or via email- Ability to pay attention to detail, manage multiple projects, and problem solve.Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College.-Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
