The Shred is entering it's fourth season and already has an impressive history: three West Division Championship appearances, one West Division Championship title, and a 2nd place finish in 2023. One of the primary goals of the Shred is to grow the sport of ultimate frisbee and provide youth with opportunities to learn and thrive. Job Description
The Shred are looking for a Head Youth Coach to oversee the Shred summer camps and assist with any other youth events.
Head Coach Responsibilities
- Attend all summer camps
- Serve as direct contact with the kids and families to insure that they are having a safe and fun experience
- Plan camp drills, skills, mini-games, and scrimmages using provided resources and curriculum
- Understand & lead both kids and other coaches through camp program in a FUN and engaging way
- Consistently move on from one drill to the next as to keep the players engaged, and identify places where other coaches can fill in to prevent downtime
- Teach and exemplify sportsmanship and mindfulness
- Know and lead field set up and clean up each week
- Provide guidance to other coaches if there are questions about drills/ roles
- Jump in as admin support if needed
- Report any player, parent, or coach issues to General Manager
- Recruit other coaches to work each summer camp
- Potentially assist with other Shred or Ultimate Play clinics
Schedule
The current tentative plan is to hold camps the weeks of:
June 9-13 in Utah County
June 16-20 in Salt Lake County
June 23-27 in Highland
July 7-11 in Cache Valley
July 14-18 in Davis County
Additional camps are being planned in conjunction with local Recreation departments, with potential dates throughout June, July, and August. If you would only be able to attend some of the camps, please still apply and we can work out the details.

Compensation:
$20 an hour, $700 a camp. Money for travel expenses and assistance with housing for Cache Valley camp, if needed.
Qualifications
Must Have
- One year of coaching experience, any sport
- Ultimate Frisbee experience - ability to throw backhand and forehand, understanding of basics of cutting, clearing, and handler movement
- Attend staff training
- Complete Safesport Training
