Definition:  Under the supervision of the Salt River Police Department (SRPD) Administration Lieutenant and/or Administration Sergeant, this position performs a variety of complex tactical and intelligence crime analysis activities to include the collection, analysis, and dissemination of criminal or other activities. This position is responsible for implementing and revising in-depth crime analysis strategies to match the Police Department practices and align with government policies to promote accountability and transparency within the organization. This position is treated as FLSA Non-Exempt.


Essential Functions: Essential functions may vary among positions and may include the following tasks, knowledge, abilities, skills and other characteristics.   1. Analyze Crime Data:
    1. Analyze geospatial calls for service and crime data to support resource deployment strategies.
    2. Utilize analytical software to develop patterns and trends for predictive enforcement strategies.
    3. Evaluate proactive enforcement strategies in high crime areas to effect long- and short-term results.
    4. Collaborate with investigators, internal and external partners regarding intervention strategies.
    5. List, map, and disseminate bulletins regarding crime.
  2. Develop Products:
    1. Evaluate analytical products related to repeat offenders including modus operandi and criminal elements.
    2. Maintain records of proven strategies used to mitigate threats to the safety of the Community.
    3. Develop presentation materials based on analysis data to conduct management level and community level briefings.
    4. Assist with gathering intelligence and conducting analysis of high value details including dignitary protection, special events, and special investigations.
    5. Enhance current process by developing new ways of automating and visualizing complex datasets.
    6. Prepare the Police Department (PD) statistical reports and forecasts to support decision-making.
  3. Stakeholder Engagement:
    1. Liaise with other departments, governmental agencies, and stakeholders regarding criminal analytical matters.
  4. Miscellaneous: Performs other job-related duties to maintain or enhance departmental operation. 



Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of the culture, customs, traditions, history and government of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.
  • Knowledge of crime analysis principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Office Programs, such as Word, Excel, Outlook PowerPoint, Teams, and other police department database systems necessary to perform essential job functions at an intermediate level.
  • Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
  • Knowledge of law enforcement needs, techniques, policies, procedures, accreditations, and legal demands.  


  • Skill establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with State and Federal Representatives, Regulatory Agencies, Tribal Officials, Community Members, SRPMIC department directors and co-workers and the public.
  • Skill reviewing and evaluating a variety of reports and statistical data.
  • Skill understanding and applying complex rules, regulations, procedures and guidelines.
  • Skill preparing a variety of computerized records and reports.
  • Skill in strong analytical and interpersonal skills.


  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instruction.
  • Ability to set priorities and to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate and timely products.
  • Ability to focus on detail and maintain strict stands of accuracy and accountability.

  • Ability to perform relevant arithmetic calculations and maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to use standard office applications (i.e, Excel, Word, Outlook) at an intermediate level, including Microsoft SharePoint –including but not limited to creation or maintenance of lists and libraries and security settings.
  • Ability to operate a variety of standard office equipment including calculators, printers, and copiers.
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs.

Education & ExperienceBachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice, Business Administration or closely related field, AND Five (5) years of full-time professional level experience with progressive levels of crime analysis experience.

  • One or more of the following Crime Analysis certificate is required:
  1. International Association of Crime Analyst, CLEA or LEAF
  2. International Association of Law Enforcement Intelligence Analyst
  3. Alpha Group Center (formally Department of Justice)
  4. Arizona Law Enforcement Academy AZ DPS/ACTIC
  • Experience using related software at an intermediate level.
  • Experience with research and design techniques, general crime analysis principals, investigative practices employed in the acquisition and dissemination of criminal intelligence information.

Equivalency: Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience that would allow the candidate to satisfactorily perform the duties of this position will be considered.


Underfill Eligibility: An enrolled Community Member whom closely qualifies for the minimum qualifications for a position may be considered for employment under SRPMIC Policy 2-19, Underfill.

  • May be required to work beyond normal work hours including nights, weekends, and holidays. May require minimal out of state travel.
