A national energy company that owns conventional and renewable power generation, natural gas assets, and retail load is searching for an experienced Structuring Manager. This opportunity is part of a team responsible for analytics supporting wholesale generation and retail portfolios, including Structuring, Fundamental Analysis, and Portfolio Analysis/Optimization. The key focus is structuring power (HRCOs, asset valuations, etc.) with some structured natural gas transactions. Deals are in CAISO, ERCOT, PJM, NEISO, and NYISO. You will work across Commercial Operations, supporting Trading, Origination, Business Development, and the M&A teams.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop structuring models for energy assets (renewables, energy storage, thermal assets, and power and weather derivatives) and complex transactions (power generation, tolling, load following/full requirements, sales off of assets, acquisitions, storage option, fuel transportation, and long-term fixed price energy purchases/sales) to support the Trading desks, Origination, Business Development and M&A activities.
- Design and implement models and statistical analyses to evaluate asset and portfolio performance and to assess the impact of hedge strategies.
- Monitor power market trends, regulatory developments, and economic conditions to enhance structuring valuations and strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and key stakeholders.
Educational and professional requirements include a quantitative bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred): 3-5 years of experience focused on power or natural gas asset structuring, derivative valuation, or energy consulting with a focus on asset valuations; strong pricing analytical and quantitative skills; advanced proficiency in Excel (macros, VBA) with Python skills a plus; and excellent communication skills.
Employees work three days in the office and two days remotely.
