What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Veterinarian position at Saltville Animal Clinic?
Job Overview
As a single-veterinarian practice, we are putting this position out there to see if there is any interest for an associate veterinarian. Currently, with only one veterinarian, we are strained with turning people away when our schedule is already full.
We are absolutely up to figuring out the details at a later time, but the goal would be for an associate veterinarian to do wellness visits while the practice owner does surgeries and sick appointments. Wellness visits would include:
1. Administering vaccines and explaining thoroughly to owners the importance of preventative care.
2. Advocating for flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and generating revenue in their sale.
3. Advocating for wellness bloodwork and fecal exams
4. Understanding that we live in a VERY financially challenged area, and grasping the concept of sometimes doing less than the golden standard of care by necessity.
5. POSSIBLY doing dental procedures (open to discussing this)
Hourly pay and number of hours per week is greatly up for negotiation, as this will be a learning process in every aspect.
The practice owner is very much involved in rescue work, so the associate veterinarian must be amenable to this.
