Retail Lead Position
Starting pay: $12 an hour direct customer tips
Responsibilities/ expectations include:
- Keeping track of onsite stock: To gain the highest amount of sales, it is important to maintain all items in stock in various sizes. Every Thursday there is a store restock where a FOH manager replenishes stock from the onsite storage unit. The retail lead is expected to have a list of items based on pars that we are out of sent to the FOH manager by Wednesday night.
- Organization of the store: Space is a current issue for the department, as it is limited to one room and one storefront, and a storage unit which is onsite. It’s vital to keep all items neat and separated to make space for shipments.
- Selling merchandise: The retail department is now allotted a labor budget, where the lead is scheduled shifts based on the sales forecast. The retail lead will be the primary seller in the store, and is responsible for having information about all the merchandise (materials/fabrics, sizing available) to provide to customers who are visiting our restaurant.
High season (March-October) hours per week: 30 minimum
Slow season (November-February) hours per week: 15-25 minimum
- Weekend availability: due to the nature of our business at Saltwater Cowboys, the majority of our sales happen between Friday and Sunday. The retail lead is required to work at least 3 full weekends a month in the high season and at least 2 in the slow season to maintain consistency in sales and provide the best quality of service in the store.
- Design and customer demographic knowledge: the retail lead interacts with customers constantly, and any retail store aims to cater to the demographic of the business. Keeping track of trends such as what customers are wearing, talking about, and what their activities are (an example would be the boat shirt due to our coastal atmosphere) is important information to keep the store “up to date”. The retail lead will also help come up with new design ideas and products to FOH managers, as well as whether or not products are selling and need to be replaced with better merchandise.
