What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scribe position at Salud y Vida, P.A.?
Job summary
- Medical Scribes listen to dictated data made by Providers and transcribe them into medical reports, correspondence, and other administrative material.
- Must understand medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, diagnostic procedures, pharmacology, and treatment assessments
- They must be able to translate medical jargon and abbreviations into their expanded forms.
- Locate patient information for physicians upon request
- Schedule appointments, follow ups and/or referrals
- Maintain accurate medical records/history and updates such as e-prescriptions
- Perform patient discharge procedures
- Record vital signs
- Assist Providers with preparing orders, such as labs, x-rays, procedures and medications.
- Provide clerical support to staff such as front desk procedures, customer service and more
- Follow billing and coding procedures for insurance purpose
- Maintain an OSHA and HIPAA compliant working environment
- Follow-up and with patients’ clinical history and needs
Minimum requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Medical Assistant Diploma
- Six months to one year of physician office experience preferred.
Abilities required
- Fluent in English/Spanish
- Must be able to translate medical terms from English to Spanish
- Reliable Transportation
- Must have excellent typing skills
- Must be willing to travel thru out the city
- Excellent Interpersonal Communication Skills
- Working Knowledge of Computer Applications
- Complex Problem Solving Skills
