Position/Title: Aviation Security Officer
Reports to: Chief Security Officer
Location: Remote in Phoenix, AZ
Salary: $120,000-$130,000 USD Annually
A. General
This is a full-time, FLSA exempt position, that will report to the Chief Security Officer of Salus Worldwide Solutions. The Aviation Security Officers are trained for several different posts including those detailed below. Working in conjunction with Flight Personnel, airport and government agencies, the main priority is to ensure that we maintain compliance with local and federal regulations in respect to each of the following:
B. Duties and Responsibilities:
· Aircraft Access Control: by assuring that only authorized personnel enter the aircraft while on the ground.
· Aircraft Ramp Access Control: by providing access control & safety oversight while aircraft is on the ground
· Aircraft Search: by meticulously searching all areas of the aircraft according to company, and federal regulations to ensure the safety of travelers, pre-departure.
· Baggage Security: by surveillance of bag room & baggage make up area to ensure no baggage is stolen or pilfered.
· Catering Security: by providing surveillance in the catering kitchen, searching all catering equipment, and ensuring that nothing is tampered with in transit from the facilities to aircraft.
· Passenger Verification: by providing exemplary customer service in the airport terminal while making sure that all passengers have valid identification and are authorized to board flights.
· Reviews cargo documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness and corrects inaccurate and/or incomplete information. Communicates serious or recurring issues to management.
· Maintains current passport and travels to off-line stations.
· Complete and/or maintain company reports, messages, files, logs and forms and ensures that necessary paperwork (e.g. Customs) is completed. Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
· Successful candidates with motivated self-starters able to maintain situational awareness and vigilance in a fast-paced airport environment.
· High school or equivalent work experience.
· Must maintain eligibility to deploy and mobilize worldwide.
· Applies comprehensive knowledge of operating equipment.
· Knows and adheres to company operating and safety policies, operations, processes, and procedures appropriate to the job. Qualification for aviation service. Normal depth perception.
· Understands and uses air freight and flight terminology and processes.
· Ability to lift 150 pounds with assistance; carry 80 pounds 30 feet and push/pull over 200 pounds.
· Work independently and make sound decisions based upon limited information.
· Retain detailed information from post orders, briefings, and communications to effectively maintain security at assigned locations. They must have the ability to follow directions and outlined procedures
Physical/Environmental Requirements:
· Work is performed in a combination of indoor/outdoor environments, and involves exposure to noise, chemicals, and other contaminants, moving mechanical hazards, and extremes of temperature and weather conditions.
· Must have sufficient visual acuity, with or without corrective lenses; sufficient auditory ability, with or without audio logical devices; able to tolerate exposure to noise levels up to 120 decibels; capable of being on one’s feet for extended periods of time and lifting 50 pounds unassisted.
· With or without reasonable accommodation, the physical and cognitive requirements of this job may include the following: seeing, hearing, speaking, and writing clearly.
· Occasionally reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
· Frequent sitting, standing, and walking, which may be required for long periods of time, and may involve climbing stairs and walking up inclines, possibly on uneven terrain.
· Must comply with HR, legal, and ethical policies. Must include appropriate people in decision making and display the ability to prioritize effectively.
