Job Title:Part-Time/PRN O.R. Registered Nurse

Summary
Provides preoperative, intraoperative, postoperative nursing care to patients in a cosmetic surgical care facility by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for performing direct patient care preoperatively, intraoperatively, and postoperatively.
Assessing, documenting and managing postoperative pain
Must demonstrate ability to assess airway adequacy and intervene quickly and appropriately when necessary
Must demonstrate proficiency with cardiac monitoring and interpretation
Must demonstrate understanding and knowledge of all phases of recovery nursing principles and expectations
Demonstrates necessary practical, technical, or specialized skills required for the role of the peri-operative nurse in accordance with AORN and other regulatory standards of practice.
Demonstrates knowledge of surgical procedures and has the ability to oversee the instrument and equipment set-up, prepare for the case utilizing preference cards, and anticipates needs of surgeon.
Coordinates and oversees the room during a case as the circulator.
Facilitates effective and efficient transition between surgical procedures.
Utilizes preference cards and updates as necessary.
Demonstrates knowledge of management of patient, including: being available to anesthesia during intubation and extubation, assisting as needed in sudden changes in patient condition and being readily available to assist as directed.
Performs thorough patient interview and assessment in accordance with procedure and assures an appropriate, detailed time out process is done according to policy.
Provides post anesthesia care; monitoring vital signs, ensuring patient safety
Pre-operative care: IV insertion, assessing patient, gathering baseline v/s, ensuring consents are signs and procedures confirmed
Escorts patient and family member(s) to appropriate areas of office
Educates patient and family in regards to procedure and post-operative care
Administers pre and post-operative medication; provides reassessment of those meds
Determines when patient is appropriate to go home and notifies provider of readiness
Prepares wound dressing changes
General help; stocking supplies, preparing room for patients, cleaning after patient discharge, helping position patient on OR table
Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, physicians, nurses, and fellow employees. (TEAMWORK)

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school. Experience in plastic surgery, AAAASF, and/or ambulatory surgical setting preferred.
Minimum of 1 year experience (preferred) in PreOp/PACU/CIRCULATING
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
Working knowledge of Windows operating system; able to use iPad and tablet.
