What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hospital Billing Specialist position at Samaritan Health?
Patient Account Representative.
- Experience in Medicare/Medicaid and Secondary Payor billing required.
- Ability to review and submit compliant claims to insurance and follow up on same. Analyze remittance, explanation of benefits to determine if insurance payments are according to the payer/hospital contract and determine patient responsibility. Submit adjustment claims, submit appeals for underpayment and/or denials.
- At least two years training in the business office field preferred.
- Long Term Care and/or Critical Access Hospital billing experience preferred.
Qualified candidate will bill for services such as Adult Daycare, Home Health and Transportation services incurred for residents of our Long Term Care Facility/Nursing Home. Billing to include Medicare/Medicaid and Secondary insurances. Candidate should be able to work independently, take initiative and have detail to attentiveness as well as respond to inquiries in a timely manner. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills required. Ability to independently take initiative and exercise good judgment in decision-making matters. Individual must be self-motivated and willing to self- direct. Ability to empathize and establish positive rapport with customers recognizing the importance of maintaining a positive customer service relationship with internal customers, external customers, patients, residents, family members, insurance providers, etc. High school Level of knowledge required.
