Nursing Assistant Training Program
Pay Rate: $15.50 per hour.
If you are a compassionate, caring, and dedicated individual, interested in a dynamic healthcare opportunity consider the Nursing Assistant Training Program that is held at Samaritan Medical Hospital in Watertown, NY. Students will help to maintain a patient's room with bed making, tidying up, emptying linen bags, washing patient's hands and face, and assisting with nail and hair care; passing trays, passing fluids, entering consumption records, assisting with activities, and assisting ambulatory residents who needs queuing.
- Classes will start April 4th with a grad date of May 9th.
- Class hours are 7am-7:30pm for 6 weeks and will be comprised of 1 day of classroom and clinical training and 2 days of on-the-job training/shadowing.
- This 6-week, PAID training program will require a time commitment of approximately 36 hours per week (Three 12-hour days)
The first week will be Monday through Wednesday for orientation with a 1/2 day on Thursday.
Selected applicants are contacted and scheduled for an interview. Those that are chosen to participate in the program will be required to pass

Prior to being officially awarded a seat in the training program.

Requirements
- High School Diploma or a GED
- Be able to lift 50lbs
Provide proof of immunizations.
Students will learn:
- Ability to document on medical records and patient care forms and understand printed health related material.
- Computer experience in charting.
- How to work effectively with others, possess tact, discretion and diplomacy.
- To work under stress and complete duties sometimes with numerous interruptions.
- To document, accurately, type of care given.
- To communicate information to supervisor and co-workers.
- How to use equipment used to move patients, take vital signs and document.
- Ability to understand printed health related material.
- BLS certification required or obtained within 3 months of hire.
- Any other associated duties as assigned.
