Minimum Education Requirement :
The Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit provides a comprehensive acute inpatient rehabilitation program designed to help you learn new skills, how to use special equipment, and how to do things safely for yourself so you can return home as quickly as possible. We place strong emphasis on family/caregiver training for anyone who may need some help when they go home. We are proud to say 98% of our patients can return home.The Acute Rehab Unit Program Director provides program and operational oversight for the ARU and reports directly to the V.P of Patient Care Services/CNO. S/he assumes 24-hour responsibility and accountability for all patient care activities, unit operation and staff function. S/he ensures that quality nursing and therapy patient care is delivered to all patients on his/her unit/service in accordance with established hospital standards, nursing division/unit structure, process and outcome standards, regulatory and accreditation requirements and the philosophy, goals and objectives, and mission of the hospital and nursing division. The ARU Program Director serves as an experienced subject matter leader and expert in staffing, clinical certifications, evidence-based practice, scope of practice, regulatory standards, clinical and payor guidelines, standards for certification and accreditation and operations. The Program Director is the direct supervisor of the clinical staff assigned to the ARU: Nursing, PT, OT, SLP, Coders, Patient Liaison, and direct ancillary support based on program growth.This position is administrative but can provide limited direct patient care as needed.
Minimum Education Requirement :
Graduate from a School of Nursing, Physical, Occupational, or Speech Language Pathology Therapy Programs. BSN or Bachelors in PT, OT, SLP required. Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum Experience Requirement :
Five years experience in the clinical area relevant to unit/service patient population, including proven experience/expertise in management area preferred. Possesses a thorough knowledge of nursing principles. Demonstrates ability to provide quality patient care. Possesses ability to assess patient’s needs, e.g. clinical, teaching, mental and spiritual. Must recognize safety issues to self and others and be able to assess and implement use of lifts to lift and move patients in a safe manner. Must be able to function well in stressful situations and have good, creative, problem-solving skills. Strong leadership skills with the ability to prioritize and delegate. Demonstrated commitment to quality, timely, and cost-effective patient care. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication skills required. Detail attentiveness required. Ability to simultaneously handle multiple assignments and projects with speed and accuracy. Able to work efficiently and effectively under time constraints. Proficient in the use of a personal computer including word processing. Ability to independently take initiative and exercise good judgment in decision- making. Professional maturity that daily sets the tone in carrying out the responsibilities of the position. High degree of honesty, integrity and confidentiality. Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to undertake new responsibilities as assigned. Ability to work under stress.
Minimum License Requirement :
Current NYS license required in field of study. Current BLS certification required or obtained within 3 months. Current ACLS certification preferred.
