Schedule : Monday through Friday, 7am -3 : 30pm
As an Exercise physiologist, you will work closely with the Cardiac Rehab team to design, implement, supervise and evaluate outcomes of exercise therapy given to rehabilitating patients to restore proper physical functioning and facilitate independence per the standards, policies, and practices of Samaritan Healthcare. The Exercise Physiologist will collaborate with the cardiac rehab team in providing exercise guidance, individualized exercise prescriptions, and risk factor education for patients in our Phase 2 and Phase 3 programs.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES (not limited to) :
- Collaboratively develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate exercise programs for patients.
- Provides education / counseling on cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases, risk factors, and home exercise.
- Performs exercise testing.
- Receives and reviews referrals for appropriate diagnosis and insurance coverage.
- Creates thorough patient ITPs with Medical Director and Cardiology Nurse maintaining a consistent and effective communication process with Cardiology and their staff.
- Schedules all patient intakes.
- Assists the patient with transportation needs such as application for transportation with SMS and People for People to minimize barriers for new patient onboarding.
- Possesses knowledge and understanding of rules and regulations as set by Medicare for cardiac rehab coverage.
- Proficient at taking resting and exercising blood pressures and basic rhythm interpretation.
- Ensure emergency 12 Lead EKG’s are ordered and faxed to the appropriate PCP or Cardiologist. Follow up with cardiologist for any emergency or adverse events that may occur in cardiac rehab.
- Leads strength training exercises.
- Stays current with new exercises, techniques / developments, and equipment through continuing education, conferences / seminars, professional societies, and journals.
