Position summary: Primarily responsible for chart retrieval, assembly, review and completion, scanning documents into the EMR, processing records requests, maintaining log books and preparing records for other departments.
Role qualifications:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- On the job training or graduation from an accredited school for medical record technicians.
License/Certificate:
- Not required.
Position responsibilities:
- Retrieves, assembles and reviews medical records for completeness.
- Scans documents into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Maintains statistical and death log books.
- Follows specified procedures for copying and fulfilling medical record requests.
- Provides customer service.
- Handles telephone inquiries.
- Assists physicians and other hospital employees in completing medical records.
- Must follow HIPAA, Department of Health guidelines and Policy and Procedures
as established by the hospital.
