RN - ER & Med/Surg Nights (Weekend Options)
Full Time - Nights (Weekend Options Available)
Position summary: In the Emergency Room provides quality care to the sick and injured patients presenting to the ER and requesting treatment. Coordinating care with other departments and other facilities as required, according to the patient’s needs. On the Med/Surg Floor renders leadership and nursing care of patients during hospitalization, in support of medical care as directed by Medical Staff, within the scope of the Missouri Nurse Practice Act, and pursuant to objectives, goals, policies and philosophy of the nursing department and the hospital.
Role qualifications:
Education
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Professional Nursing
Experience
- 1 year nursing practice in acute care facility preferred but not required
- Open to Graduate Nurses
Licenses/Certificate
- Current Missouri State Registration
- Current BCLS required
- ACLS and PALS preferred but not required
Position responsibilities:
- Knowledge of Emergency Room policies and procedures
- Documentation of interventions and patient responses to interventions during their Emergency Room visit
- Monitor all equipment in the ER for proper functioning, reporting any problems to the ER supervisor
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff
- Coordinate care of patients with EMS, Physicians, other departments, other facilities as needed
- Maintain current licensure and certifications for yourself and file in personnel file
- Assess continuing education needs and discuss plan with supervisor
- Assess patient conditions, provide interventions as ordered, assure legible documentation of all treatments and observations
- Reassess patient conditions and document findings, including those in the waiting room
- Make sure that patient’s and their families are kept informed about results, patient status and/or any delays and document this information on the patient record
- Monitor supplies and assure necessary supplies are obtained and restocked
- Manage employees in a professional and customer service oriented manner, remembering that coworkers are also our customers
- Give competent care to patients of all ages, including pediatric and elderly patients
Essential skills and experience:
- Able to read, write, perform mathematical calculations
- Able to meet physical ability requirements
- Able to communicate via telephone and radio
