Summer Camp Counselor

Description

Samena Club is looking for energetic and dedicated counselors to create unforgettable memories at our summer camps. As a counselor, you'll guide young campers aged 5-12 through exciting activities while fostering engagement, maintaining safety, and building lasting friendships. We’re looking for responsible and outgoing candidates who love to be active and working with kids.  You'll be more than just a counselor – you'll be a mentor, friend, and role model who helps shape positive experiences that last a lifetime. 

We are currently hiring for both Counselors and Lead Counselors.

Our 10-week summer program (mid-June through August) includes activities like: 

• Swimming and water sports 
• Arts and crafts 
• Team sports and games  
• Singing, counselor skits, and more! 

Responsibilities of Counselors & Lead Counselors

• Supervise and lead a group of campers (ages 5-12) at our facility using age-appropriate language and practices.
• Be available from 8:45 am – 4:15 pm, Mon-Fri, during June 25 - August 27.
• Participate in all training sessions and staff meetings, including pre-summer training on 6/8, 6/8, 6/20 (evening), and 6/21. (Training dates may be subject to change)
• Engage in and lead activities including swimming, outdoor games, indoor games, crafts, skits, and team bonding.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with campers, families, and staff.
• Promote positive interactions and environment while supporting campers through conflict resolution and problem solving.
• Participate in all training sessions and staff meetings.
• Perform light administrative tasks, such as maintaining attendance records and completing incident reports.
• Maintain thorough and clear communication with Children's Program Director and Children's Program Manager as needed.

Additional Responsibilities of Lead Counselors

• Help plan, set-up, and lead daily activities and skits.
• Lead daily morning/afternoon staff meetings as needed.
• Promote positive interactions and environment while supporting management, camp staff, and campers as needed through daily activities, conflict resolution, problem solving, and non-injury/injury incident management.
• Uphold and exemplify camp rules and standards.
• Help monitor daily activities and counselors to ensure the program runs smoothly and that correct practices & objectives are being met.
• Ensure campers participating in swim lessons, tennis lessons, or other programs reach their lessons on time.

Qualifications

Qualifications of Counselors & Lead Counselors

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Experience working with children in a camp, babysitting or similar setting.
• CPR and First Aid certification is preferred. Training is available for those who are not.
• Positive attitude and strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Ability to pass a background check.

Additional Qualifications of Lead Counselors

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• At least 2 years experience working as a summer camp counselor or equivalent experience.
• Ability to effectively solve problems and talk through issues with both fellow counselors and campers.
• Ability to confidently lead in a team environment.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; swim; use hands to, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Our facility includes a fitness room, playground, classrooms, tennis courts, a seasonal wading pool, a year-round 25-yard, 6 lane outdoor pool and a year-round 25-meter, 6 lane indoor pool.
