Description
Samford is seeking an Assistant Director of Intramural and Sport Clubs for Campus Recreation. This full-time professional staff member is responsible for the oversight of all Intramural and Sport Club programs. This includes, but is not limited to, the scheduling of multiple intramural sports, training of officials in a variety of sports, mentoring, leading, and supervising a variety of Club Sports teams. This role will include providing the Samford community with exceptional intramural and club sports offerings and being a leader on campus in recreation, wellness, and fitness education. The successful candidate will promote and cultivate an environment that values inclusiveness and diversity, engage in evidence-based decision-making, and promotes student development and learning. This position will oversee Coordinator of Intramurals Sports, and student staff.
Job Duties
- Plan and develop all intramural sports programs and special events.
- Oversee the recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, supervision, disciplining and evaluation of intramural student employees.
- Develop and implement a plan for communicating, publicizing, and promoting all intramural programs.
- Provide leadership and strategic planning in the purchasing of new equipment or adding programs to enhance our programs.
- Collect and maintain accurate records of participation and other pertinent data.
- Maintain intramural and sport club recreation equipment.
- Stay current with all intramural and sport club rules for training student employees for successful supervising and officiating.
- Coordinate sports club programming functions, to include overseeing the club allocation request process, approving, and tracking appropriations and expenses; assisting clubs with fundraising opportunities; supervising facility scheduling and appropriate coverage for club sport games, competitions, and practices; and contributing to the creation and implementation of a creative marketing strategy.
- Oversee sport club risk management, travel guidelines, event planning, purchasing policies, facility scheduling, recruitment, and documentation requirements.
- Develop, implement, and monitor the effectiveness of sports club initiatives.
- Monitor sports club program annual budgets and payroll functions.
- Research and apply new knowledge and techniques to current policies, procedures, and operations.
- Manage and oversee the budget for intramural and sport clubs.
- Supervise the Coordinator of Intramurals Sports.
- Monitor each sport facility and share facility or maintenance issues with the Assistant Director of Facilities and Reservations.
- Provide leadership and strategic planning for intramural and sport club risk management needs.
- Assist the Associate Director with sport improvement project coordination.
- Develop specific, achievable, and measurable short-range goals for areas of responsibility within the Campus Recreation department.
- Attend and contribute to departmental, divisional, and university meetings, as well as special functions, as required or requested by the Associate Director.
- Be an active and engaged member of the Student Affairs / Campus and Residential Life Team.
- Foster and maintain strong inter-departmental relationships to ensure seamless operations across various functions of the University.
