Description

Assist with the planning and construction of small in house capital projects.

Job Duties

Assist supervisor with structural design, planning, and layout of projects.
Obtain cost estimates for materials.
Measure, mark, and arrange materials to established layout based on blueprints or instructions from supervisor.
Cut and shape structures, forms, or other fixtures from wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall.
Join materials with the most appropriate nail, screw, staple, or adhesive.
Install windows and doors.
Use various hand and power tools to securely build assigned projects.
Ensure the accuracy of work by checking completed projects with tools such as levels, surveying equipment, or framing squares; corrects problems as needed.
Adhere to local building and safety codes and guidelines.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.

Must Possess a Valid Driver's License in the State of Alabama.

Successful completion of vocational school or technical college or apprenticeship program OR at least three (3) years of experience via on-the-job training.

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Thorough understanding of carpentry principles and methods.

Ability to read, write, and perform simple arithmetic.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of methods, occupational hazards, and safety precautions of the trade.

Ability to exercise tact and discretion with other employees, customers, and the public including reasonable standards of personal appearance.
