Description
The Department Assistant supports the Chair and the Division of Music by performing essential administrative tasks under the supervision of the Chair. This integral role combines operational precision, event coordination, and student and faculty support to ensure the seamless daily operation of our programs and facilities.
Job Duties
- Serve as Course Guardian for the Division of Music, including assistance with course scheduling, rooming, sequencing; pull and process data reports; process course evaluations.
- Assist with record keeping relating to student advising and ongoing digitization of Division of Music file materials.
- Track and report attendance at Music Seminar, Recitals, and Degree Specific Seminars.
- Prepare concert, recital, and special event programs (both print and digital).
- Supervise student workers, including Federal Work Study employees at the undergraduate and graduate levels, graduate assistants, and piano technicians.
- Order and maintain office and classroom supplies, and music workroom.
- Assist with annual Honors Recital and Awards Ceremony and other special events; order receptions as assigned for Division of Music and Davis Series events.
- Provide support for 40 full- and part-time faculty, including the chair, including calendaring and scheduling of spaces / venues for the Division of Music.
- Building coordinator for Buchanan Hall and provide decision support for manager of Brock Hall / Brock Recital Hall.
