What You'll Do In This Role
USD $48,418.00 - USD $100,870.00 /Yr. Range includes data points from multiple labor markets. Specific range is dependent on the labor market where the incumbent will be hired to perform the position. Starting salary is dependent on candidate qualifications and experience. What You'll Do In This Role
- Provide objective, thorough, timely and well-researched responses on factual and legal research as requested and as assigned by the attorneys in the Legal Department.
- Research and analyze law sources such as statutes, regulations, state insurance codes, judicial decisions, legal articles, and treaties to prepare or assist in the preparation of legal documents.
- Manage requests for review received from Life Insurance and Annuity business units, including researching company records, maintaining response logs, and forwarding requests to attorneys for handling, when appropriate.
- Prepare or review legal documents including but not limited to affidavits, agreements, certifications, contract and policy forms, and settlement agreements, under the direction and supervision of the attorneys in the Legal Department.
- Provide corporate governance assistance as required by the General Counsel and Secretary, including work on meeting books for Boards of Directors and Committees of the Boards, Board resolutions, Sole Shareholder actions, and Unanimous Written Consents; maintain records of same.
- Work collaboratively with the Legal Department staff on projects and issues as required for Legal Department management, such as opening files under the Legal Department filing system, maintenance of hard copies and/or electronic copies of litigation files and documents, and/or corporate governance and transactional documents.
- Communicate with Directors of the companies on logistics of Board and Board Committee meetings and actions, as required.
- Support and assist Attorneys in connection with various legal matters as required, including vendor and other contract review issues, privacy matters, life and annuity claims, intellectual property, general corporate and contract matters, and other general insurance regulatory matters.

- Associate's Degree Or
- Bachelor's Degree from accredited institution Preferred
- Alternative to an Associate or to a Bachelor degree, Paralegal Certification from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited Paralegal Studies program or similar ABA accredited program Required
- At least 4 years relevant work experience as a paralegal or legal assistant Preferred
- Experience in life insurance, or, annuities, or, financial services industry Preferred
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral
- Excellent organizational and process management skills
- Time management with the ability to adapt and determine priorities
- Demonstrated knowledge of commonly-used legal concepts, practices and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to conduct accurate and timely research
- Demonstrated ability to use and navigate electronic legal research tools and entity management software
- Demonstrated attention to detail, professional attitude, and commitment to maintain confidentiality of records and information
