Recognize, research and recommend resolution to unclaimed property, information reporting withholding management, premium tax and other tax issues. Utilize technology and drive projects in support of regulatory changes, team objectives and for continuous process improvement. Work with all related Sammons Financial Group Companies' (Sammons Financial Group) teams across all locations with a professional, positive work demeanor that aligns with the Company culture and values while maintaining strict confidentiality over appropriate information.

Range includes data points from multiple labor markets. Specific range is dependent on the labor market where the incumbent will be hired to perform the position. What You'll Do In This Role
- Apply extensive knowledge of all IRS and state regulations to research and resolve various information reporting, premium tax, withholding management, unclaimed property and various expense tax issues, including direct communication with federal, state and local regulatory bodies.
- Accountable for timely and accurate execution of IRS filings for 1099 Series, 5498, 1042S, Puerto Rico series information reporting forms, state withholding filings, premium tax filings state and municipal. Accountable for estimated payments and accruals, including coordination of mailing, printing and imaging.
- Accountable for timely and accurate completion of State Unclaimed Property Filings, maintaining any necessary work papers and subsidiaries.
- Accountable for timely and accurate completion of vendor master setup with proper IRS required documentation.
- Complete State Use Tax filings and IRS 1099-MISC and 1099NEC data needed for filing.
- Accountable for timely and accurate completion of components of the annual financial statements and footnotes as they relate to company expenses.
- Direct communication with regulatory bodies (i.e. state or local regulatory bodies); coordinate with and support communications, including any auditors, in areas of responsibility.
- Communicate effectively with areas outside of Corporate Accounting to identify and implement projects that impact 1099 Series, 1042S, 5498, Puerto Rico Series, 972CG, CP2100, unclaimed property, company expenses, invoices and all state use taxes.
- Apply extensive knowledge of company technology platforms, programming jobs or new technology in order to effectively implement changes in the organization that impact 1099 Series, 1042S, 5498, Puerto Rico Series, 972CG, CP2100 and unclaimed property.
- Apply knowledge of the Sammons Financial Group entities, business units, chart of accounts, processes and controls in order to effectively implement changes in the organization that impact 1099 Series, 1042S, 5498, Puerto Rico Series, 972CG, CP2100 and unclaimed property.
- Develop and maintain effective professional and positive working relationships with key stakeholders across the organization including several geographic locations.
- Produce various analytical reports; research items or trends that are unusual and communicate findings to leadership.
- Maintain written procedural documentation for all assigned tasks and adhere to written processes and procedures in support of the required internal controls.
- Coach, train, mentor and motivate the activities of new team members; shadow Company values and professionalism with the understanding that this role is a representation of the Corporate Accounting division.
- The workload may occasionally demand additional work outside of the company's standard 40-hour work week, specifically during tax season.

- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or relevant business field Preferred
- 2-4 years' experience in accounting or relevant business area Preferred
- Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to work with and communicate with senior leaders outside of Corporate Accounting, external auditors and other regulatory bodies
- High degree of analytical and critical thinking skills with a professional judgement disposition
- Ability to work independently to identify and resolve complex issues
- Proven ability to prioritize and reprioritize multiple projects and allocate time as needed
- High degree of professionalism, motivation and intellectual curiosity
- Ability to adapt to change and learn quickly
- Demonstrates effective use of Microsoft Office and company specific software applications
- Desire to attain or further insurance industry specific tax reporting and product knowledge
