What You Can Expect In This Role
Provide strategic leadership to the North American Life division : Sales, Marketing, Corporate Underwriting and Product Development. Develop and execute a strategic plan to support the advancement of the company's mission and objectives and to promote revenue, profitability, and growth as an organization. Oversee operations to ensure production efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources. Partner with Sammons Financial Group (SFG) executive leadership to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans, and policies.
What You'll Do In This Role
- Lead and provide strategic direction for distribution of Life products.
- Contribute to the achievement of production goals by developing, delivering and maintaining effective sales and marketing initiatives, recommending new initiatives to organizational leadership and implementing approved initiatives.
- Establish, manage and attain Life division sales goals.
- Manage Sales and Distribution Team, to include Regional Vice Presidents, Sales Support and National Accounts, Internal Wholesalers and Sales Relationship Managers.
- Responsible for managing field distribution including but not limited to : Managing General Agencies, Independent Marketing Organizations, National Marketing Organizations, Recruit & Build Agencies.
- Responsible for establishing sales incentive compensation for field distribution as well as North American internal sales associates.
- Participate on Product Steering and Interest Rate Committees.
- Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization with New Business, Underwriting, Agency Services, Policy Administration, Information Technology, Marketing Communications, and Legal / Compliance.
- Act as executive sponsor for strategic initiatives and projects related to Sales, Marketing, and Distribution groups.
- Develop and execute a strategic plan to advance the company's mission and objectives and to promote revenue, profitability, and growth as an organization.
- Participate in the development of the corporation's plans and programs as a strategic partner.
- Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs / strategies and regulatory action.
- Lead in the enhancement and / or development, implementation and enforcement of policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation.
- Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization.
- Lead, guide, direct, and evaluate the work of other executive leaders within the downline.
- Communicate company information to SFG employee population in a positive fashion including but not limited to frequent business updates, annual shareholder meetings, culture counsel events, new hire events and community impact events (i.e. United Way).
- Evaluate the success of the organization and provide feedback on areas to promote growth.
- Balance all business decisions weighing the cost benefits of each to ensure that cost-effective solutions are reached.
- Create and maintain an environment which embraces the corporate shared values, Sammons Leadership Series (SLS) principles, Sammons First and emphasizes our culture.
- Maintain awareness of both the external and internal competitive landscape, share opportunities for expansion, customers, markets, new industry developments and standards with other members of the executive leadership team.
- Drive and reinforce commitment to internal controls processes such as those under Model Audit Rule and Record Information Management.
- Represent the organization in civic and professional association responsibilities and activities in the local community.
