Overview
Under the general supervision of the Production Manager, the Material Handler is responsible for managing the movement, storage, and distribution of materials and products within the warehouse and assembly areas. This includes loading and unloading shipments, stocking inventory, and ensuring the smooth flow of materials through the facility. The Material Handler will also maintain accurate records of material transactions and adhere to safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Load and unload incoming and outgoing materials and products using appropriate equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks).
- Stock and organize materials: Sort and place materials in designated areas, ensuring inventory accuracy and organization.
- Inventory management: Monitor stock levels, perform regular inventory checks, and report discrepancies or shortages.
- Maintain records: Keep accurate records of all materials received and shipped, and update inventory databases as necessary.
- Equipment operation: Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, hand trucks, and pallet jacks in a safe and efficient manner.
- Safety adherence: Follow all company safety policies and procedures, ensuring a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Quality control: Inspect incoming and outgoing materials for damage or defects, reporting any issues to the appropriate supervisor.
- Collaborate with team: Work closely with other warehouse/assembly staff, supervisors, and departments to meet operational goals.
Qualifications
- High school Diploma or Equivalent (required)
- 2 years in a manufacturing or warehouse environment
- Forklift certification or experience (preferred)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to frequently twist, bend, and stand
- Visual and manual dexterity
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.25 - $19.75 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
