This Social Work Intern position offers you the opportunity to help adults with disabilities by empowering them to have a voice in planning their life and support. This position offers many opportunities to grow and develop social work skills including but not limited to behavioral counseling, residential support, policy development, foster care program development, and much more! The successful candidate will enjoy working collaboratively with numerous team members and agencies. They will also be looking to expand their skills by working in many different programs simultaneously.

What you will learn:
- Provide direct supervision and support of clients as related to program and client-specific expectations
- Colorado state requirements surrounding the rules and regulations of IDD services
- Implement services for client based on client-specific Individual Services and Supports Plan (ISSP)
- Follow agency policies, procedures and protocols to ensure safety and quality care
- Promote both social work and Sample Supports values while interacting with client and community
- To perform expected tasks as determined by service definitions
- Implement positive behavior supports and client-specific behavior plans
- Clinical skills with an emphasis on CBT and DBT practices
- How to run a therapeutic group ranging in size and abilities
- Administrative skills surrounding case management and team communication
- Specific strategies and techniques when interacting with behavioral clients
Job Requirements
- Work across Sample Supports programs with any client as assigned who receives services through the agencies including Behavioral Services, Residential, Supported Employment and Day Program.
- Attendance at related program meetings as requested by Supervisor
- Check and respond to emails/voicemails frequently
- Regular communication with Supervisor to relay critical client-related information
- Provide detailed, daily documentation of all time spent on identified activities
- Provide ongoing progress reports to teams and Sample Supports as requested by Program Coordinator
- Works in full compliance with all of Sample Supports' policies, procedures and protocols
- Works in full compliance with all of Sample Supports' policies, procedures and protocols Job responsibilities include reporting any suspected maltreatment, abuse, neglect, or exploitation of an at-risk individual. (M/A/N/E) Each position is considered a mandatory reporter
- Reliable transportation is required to get to work
- Any other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- Current masters level student at an accredited Social Work school, or a current bachelors level student at an accredited social work school.
- Background in mental health and familiarity with basic therapy skills
- Strong communication skills
- Continually support clients to demonstrate self-determination and independence
- Monitor and support health and safety for client
- Organized and able to manage time independently
- Dependable and available to both peers and clients as scheduled
- Ability to write professionally
- An interest in the Developmentally Disabled population
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering information
- Aptitude for organization in implementing new and creative systems
- Effective verbal, written, and listening communications skills
- Ability to take direction and multi-task in a fast paced environment
- Desire to work in a fast-paced, growing business with an interest in growth opportunities and increasing responsibility
- Ability to embrace change and demonstrate continuous flexibility
- Must be competent and willing to perform Non-Violent Crisis Intervention physical managements as trained
- Completion and ongoing competency of all required trainings offered or organized by Sample Supports
- Able to perform the physical demands of the position
