  • The Merchandise Manage is responsible for the planning and implementation of merchandise strategies. The position requires the ability to interpret sales reports and to provide guidance to improve sales and customer engagement. The responsibilities include working with the Category Manager on new projects, campaigns and business ideas. In addition, the Merchandise Manager is responsible for identifying trends, monitoring supply and demand and working with the Category Manager to insure product is delivered to the store at the allocated time so the Merchandise Manager can arrange for proper displaying of the product. The Merchandise Manager is responsible for making sure the stores are properly displaying window signs, pump toppers and other marketing and promotional material utilized by SBOC/Han-Dee Hugos Stores.

  • Represents company interests with the highest standards of professionalism.
  • Suggests ways to improve financial savings.
  • Analyze data or insights to determine industry and consumer trends.
  • Devise long-term merchandising strategies for product categories.
  • Work with the Category Manager to develop exit strategies for unsuccessful products.
  • Investigates and recommends changes in products, service by evaluating results and competitive developments.
  • Foster trust relationships with vendor partners to achieve best pricing and quality of services.
  • Build strong relationships with vendor partners and ensure vendors meet expectations and report inconsistencies to the Category Manager.
  • Ensure stores are placing appropriate orders to ensure product availability that meets consumer demands.
  • Work with the Category Manager to monitor and evaluate performance of products and work to foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Conducts frequent competitor store visits to evaluate the competitive environment and market trends to identify new opportunities for growth.
  • Oversee product presentation and visual merchandising to create compelling and attractive displays that enhance the overall shopping experience.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
  • Responsible for writing one article quarterly for the Han-Dee Hugos Newsletter.
  • Must maintain a safe work environment and be able to recognize and respond to safety issues.
  • Must promote a culture of safety.
  • Performs multiple tasks in fast paced and detail-oriented environment.
  • Must report and receive approval of any gratuities, gifts or any type of renumerations from any vendor or supplier before receiving same. (This does not include company authorized events or vendor product samples.)
  • Provide effective communication to The Director of Operations, Vice President and President.

Strong knowledge of category, marketing, merchandising and sales principles. Broad knowledge of such fields as business administration, finance, etc. Equivalent to two years of college, plus 5 years related experience and/or training and 4 years related management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    • Multi-Unit Retail Convenience Store experience preferred.
    • Must have valid N.C. Drivers License.
    • Must have a reliable vehicle.
    • Must have the ability to read and interpret documents and Department Manuals.
    • Ability to effectively and positively present information in one on one and small group situations to guests and other employees in the organization.
    • Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
    • Computer experience required, preferably Microsoft Office and Excel Spreadsheets and other software programs utilized by SBOC/Han-Dee Hugos.
