DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The primary duties of this position are the development and implementation of an Income Maintenance Caseworker training program which covers policy and systems training in addition to quality assurance work that spans multiple program areas for new and existing Economic Services staff. Secondary duties include second-party review of eligibility casework performed by Income Maintenance Caseworker II-level positions in all Income Maintenance program areas (Adult Medicaid, Medicaid for Families and Children, Long-Term Care, Food and Nutrition Services, and Crisis Programs) and being available as a primary point of contact by workers to answer policy questions and/or troubleshoot cases. This position may also carry a partial/specialized caseload.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Thorough knowledge of income maintenance programs as assigned. Considerable knowledge of all agency and community programs and services which could affect the client/applicant. General knowledge of all income maintenance programs. Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret a variety of regulations, policies and procedures of varying complexity. Ability to work independently and prioritize work. Ability to instruct and evaluate the work of lower level employees. Ability to train employees on new and existing rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Ability to understand customer needs. Ability to perform caseworker functions within structured time frames.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Two years of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
PREFERENCE MAY BE GIVEN TO THOSE WITH BI-LINGUAL SKILLS AND/OR DSS EXPERIENCE.
