If so, the Sampson County Department of Social Services is looking for a Social Work Supervisor III to lead our team of compassionate professionals in Adult Protective Services (APS) Assessments, Guardianship, and Adult Care Home Monitoring.
About the Role:
As a Social Work Supervisor III, you will oversee a team of 4 to 6 social workers who are committed to protecting and advocating for adults in need. This role requires strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and a passion for public service. You will play a critical role in ensuring quality case management, compliance with state policies, and positive outcomes for the individuals we serve.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead and mentor a team of social workers handling APS assessments, guardianship cases, and adult care home monitoring.
· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing adult services.
· Provide guidance on complex cases, offering expert consultation and direction.
· Conduct staff training and development to enhance skills and service delivery.
· Monitor case progress and ensure timely, effective interventions for adults in need.
· Collaborate with community partners, law enforcement, and healthcare providers to provide comprehensive support to clients.
· Respond to crisis situations and provide oversight during high-risk cases.
· Review reports, documentation, and case findings to maintain accuracy and adherence to policies.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Knowledge of methods and principles of casework supervision and training. Considerable knowledge of social work principles, techniques and practices and their application to
specific casework and community problems. Considerable knowledge of behavioral and socioeconomic problems and their treatment and governmental and private organizations and community resources. Considerable knowledge of the laws, regulations and policies which govern social work programs. Considerable knowledge of and experience in working with the judicial system. Ability to supervise, train, or orient lower-level social workers, students, interns, or other staff. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work effectively.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Master's degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related experience; or a bachelor's degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; or a master's degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; or a bachelor's degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of directly related experience; or a bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERENCE MAY BE GIVEN TO THOSE WITH BI-LINGUAL SKILLS AND/OR DSS EXPERIENCE.
