Sampson Regional Medical Center is seeking a Medical Lab Technician (MLT) to join the Laboratory Department as a Laboratory Tech!
Description:
The selected applicant will work within an AAAB and COLA accredited laboratory department at Sampson Regional Medical Center. Responsibilites include peforming various waived, moderately and highly complex hematologic, chemical, immunohematology, immunologic/serologic, microscopic, and microbiological tests on specimens to obtain data for use in diagnosis or treatment of diseases. Performs and reports patient testing and quality control for waived, moderate complexity, and high complexity testing for which training and competencies have been verified. Will be responsible for obtaining specimens by capillary, arterial, and venous punctures. Performs troubleshooting and calibrations. Participates in the quality assessment and performance improvement initiatives. May also orientate and train new employees and/or students.
Requirements:
- Associates degree in MLT.
- National certification as a MLT by an approved agency. ASCP or AMT preferred
- Two years of work experience as an MLT.
- Knowledge of lab equipment, quality control methods, and report management required
Hours:
This is a full-time, night shift position from 6:00 pm - 6:00 am. Rotating weekends and holidays are required. May be required to work other hours for effective operation of the department.
