Description:
The selected applicant will perform various pharmacy related duties such as filling patient medication orders for patients of all ages. Sends pharmaceutical supplies throughout the hospital under direct pharmacist supervision which requires knowledge and utilization of automated dispensing machines. The technicians often serve as important resources/support for nursing staff with Omnicell and savvy cart operation, often assisting with waste, override, returns, and other issues. Other responsibilities include receiving and checking orders from wholesalers and manufacturers in addition to capturing charges/credits for floor stock items. Filing, housekeeping chores, pick-up and delivery of medication orders are also a part of this position. The pharmacy technician is also responsible for sterile compounding and admixture using aseptic technique as well as the inspection of clinical areas within the hospital as well as off-site to ensure that these areas are compliant with proper medication storage. Technicians are additionally responsible for overseeing the expiration, replenishment, and exchange of crash carts. Technicians also serve a very important role in inventory control helping to rotate stock, pull and check for expired medications
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Pharmacy Technician Certification or approved plan for certification is required.
- 1 or 2 years' experience as hospital pharmacy technician preferred but not required.
