BASIC FUNCTION
Baker Furniture is currently seeking a dependable and experienced CDL Truck Driver to become part of our team. In this position, you will transport luxury furniture from our North Carolina location to various locations in Texas. Your main duties will involve safely operating our company-owned diesel truck, following all traffic laws and regulations, and ensuring timely deliveries while delivering exceptional customer service.
Relevant experience in delivery driving and forklift operation will greatly enhance your ability to efficiently load and unload high-end furniture; occasional pad wrapping will be required. Join our team and help us achieve logistics success while providing outstanding service.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Shipping Duties:
- Secure units as necessary using appropriate strapping techniques.
- Cover units with protective padding to prevent damage.
- Assist in the loading of the truck as required.
- Collaborate with co-workers and provide assistance when needed.
- Exercise caution and adhere to safety protocols to prevent injuries to oneself and colleagues.
- Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring that the work area is cleaned daily.
- *Trucking Duties:**
- Familiarize yourself with all customer orders, shipping receipts, and purchase orders for each scheduled delivery or pick-up.
- Operate the truck to designated locations, conducting thorough inspections for defects before and after each trip, and submitting reports as necessary.
- Maintain driver logs in accordance with I.C.C. regulations, completing the bill of lading, waybills, inspection reports, driving logs, trip reports, container return reports, and any other required documentation, ensuring accuracy throughout.
- Assist with loading and unloading, as well as collecting empty containers and products for return.
- This position involves lifting and unloading from the trailer, requiring the ability to lift over 50 lbs, as well as processing paperwork and ISTs from HDC.
- Adhere to the guidelines set forth in the Baker Driver Manual.
- Enrollment in the company’s Continuous Motor Vehicle Reporting (MVR) Monitoring program is mandatory.
Route Details:
- The typical route departs from Hildebran, NC, with deliveries in Texas.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Must maintain a Class A CDL license and possess a clean driving record; subject to criminal background checks and drug screening.
- A minimum of one year of driving experience is required, with six months of experience in the furniture industry being advantageous.
- Forklift certification is necessary.
- Physical capability to lift and maneuver heavy furniture is essential.
- Strong Communication skills and reliability are crucial.
