Summary/Objectives: The Plastics Engineer is responsible for supporting and maintaining new and legacy mold tooling.

Analyzes product and tooling data to identify required solutions.
- Recommends process and tooling changes to improve product quality.
- Coordinates tooling projects with domestic and international suppliers.
- Oversees or conducts R&D trials on plastic molding machines.
- Identifies solutions with suppliers to increase productivity and reduce overall costs.
- Leads or participates in product and tooling design reviews.
- Cross functionally engages with quality, engineering, manufacturing and other teams to develop products and solutions.
- Adheres to all corporate engineering standards including but not limited to documentation and file management.
- Autonomously plans and schedules personal tasks, develops solutions to problems utilizing education, experience, and judgment.

Requirements:
- 1 - 5 years of experience or in similar roles or jobs.
- Must be a self-starter with strong leadership
- Outstanding communication skills and demonstrated problem solving ability.
- Excellent interpersonal skills in relating to both internal and external customers.
- Proficient is MS Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Knowledge of steel machining techniques, mold design, injection mold materials.
- Experience in engineering design software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc).
- Capable of running an R&D injection molding machine.
- Willing to travel locally as needed and up to 10% between other Samtec locations.
- Pursuing Bachelors Degree in PLET, MET, or related Engineering field.
