Camp counselors are the glue that holds camp together. Camp counselors are responsible for ensuring a fun, safe, and positive experience for their designated group of campers. Position pays $18.00 - $19.00 per hour depending on experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Assume responsibility for a group of campers under their care to ensure a positive and safe camp experience.
- Actively participate in and supervise activities during J Camp, including in the pool.
- Plan and implement camp activities.
- Ensure that the spaces used for J Camp are cleaned before leaving.
- Support the emotional and social wellbeing of campers through positive behavior management, supportive interactions and conflict resolution.
- Supervise campers during field trips, including while on the bus.
- Communicate regularly and appropriately with the rest of the J Camp staff team, both verbally and in writing.
- Ensure campers get to where they need to go as directed by the J Camp leadership team.
- Act as a positive ambassador of the SJCC both inside and outside of the SJCC.
- Follow all emergency procedures as directed.
- Perform work on weekends and evenings as needed to meet applicable deadlines or scheduling needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
