What are the responsibilities and job description for the Camp Nature Specialist position at Samuel and Althea Stroum Jewish Community Center?
The Camp Nature Specialist is responsible for creating and implementing different nature activities for campers during their designated nature time. Position pays $19.00 - $20.00 per hour depending on experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Assume responsibilities for a group of campers under your care to ensure a positive and safe camp experience.
- Plan and lead nature activities. The activities must be appropriate for each age group
- Ensure that the spaces used for J Camp are cleaned before leaving.
- Share activity plans with supervisor by agreed upon date in advance of each activity.
- Provide a materials list to supervisor by agreed upon date in advance of each activity.
- Assist with special event planning and implementation.
- Support the emotional and social wellbeing of the kids through positive behavior management, supportive interactions and conflict resolution.
- Communicate regularly and appropriately with the rest of the J Camp staff team, both verbally and in writing.
- Ensure campers get to where they need to go as directed by the J Camp leadership team, including playing an integral role during arrival and dismissal.
- Act as a positive ambassador of the SJCC both inside and outside of the SJCC
- Follow all emergency procedures at the SJCC.
- Perform work on weekends and evenings as needed to meet applicable deadlines or scheduling needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
