About the Position:
The Junior Camp Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the well-being and safety of campers and staff at the Samuel and Althea Stroum Jewish Community Center. This position reports directly to the Senior Coordinator and assists in daily operations, supervising Camp Counselors and Specialists as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safety and Supervision: Ensure a positive and safe experience for children under their care. Actively supervise Camp Counselors and/or Specialists, providing constructive feedback and support.
- Camp Environment: Maintain a safe camp environment and respond promptly to incidents, illnesses, or situations that arise.
- Communication: Assist with parent communication and other tasks under the direction of the Camp Director.
- Wellness and Support: Foster emotional and social well-being through positive behavior management and supportive interactions.
- Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with the J Camp staff team and inform the Camp Director of any concerns.
- Leadership Support: Collaborate with the Camp Director and leadership team to share recommendations and concerns.
- Daily Operations: Work closely with a Senior Coordinator to assist in daily operations.
- Support and Representation: Join groups requiring extra support and serve as a positive ambassador for the SJCC.
- Emergency Procedures: Adhere to emergency procedures and perform work on weekends and evenings as needed.
- Additional Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Certifications: CPR/AED and First Aid Certification (or willingness to become certified).
- Experience: Experience working with children (desired but not required).
- Personal Qualities: Openness to learning and growth.
