What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grit Blaster A position at Samuel, Son & Co. 1855?
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Associates to perform all safety checks at the start of their shift on all cranes and tools and document as necessary. Continue to perform safety checks throughout the shift.
- Stripping of materials using grit, or Aluminum Oxide to tanks and other parts by directing flow of grit on metal parts to remove sand, rust and dirt.
- Must Be able to enter tanks through man way.
- Varies concentration of grit or aluminum oxide and selects appropriate pressure to obtain required surface finish.
- Applies masking materials to protect areas not to be grit blasted and screw in plugs to protect threads.
- Keeps equipment clean to insure proper operation.
- Removal of exhausted Grit or Aluminum Oxide from blasting room.
- Associates drive and transfer material into the blast area
- Must be able to learn how to use tools, fixtures and machinery required in the area.
- Clean and organize area at the end of the shift
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction and procedure manuals.
- Material handling – safe operating of cranes, hoists, and forklifts as needed. Also successfully complete any training/safety program relating to the operation of the equipment.
EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE:
- Pneumatic tools, as provided by the company.
- Hand tools required for completion of job tasks.
- Impact wrench, air ratchet, crescent wrench, and other tools used to assemble product.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work will in a fast paced environment to meet team expectations.
- Understanding and support of Company policies and procedures.
- Ability to understand and abide by all safety rules and regulations to perform the job.
- Must have a basic understanding of computers.
- Must have reading, writing and simple math skills.
- Must be able to read blue prints.
- Must have either a High School diploma, GED, or at least 1 year working experience in an industrial based environment.
